From Caroline:
Can I just take the opportunity to thank everyone at Doorpac who sponsored me to run the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April to raise money for the NSPCC, a fantastic charity.
It was a truly awe inspiring day. It was an honour to take part in such an iconic event, especially on a day when records were broken, with the first sub 2-hour finishes at a marathon race, and the women's world record beaten (just to be clear, that wasn't by me 😂).
I managed to acheive my target of coming in under 5-hours (4:55:27 to be precise), despite me being totally unprepared for heat, the congestion for the full 26.2 miles, and the constant noise from the crowds. But I think I was prepared for the distance. I trained well, and followed my plan pretty much to the letter.
I'd been hoping to take part in the London Marathon since I started running in 2014 (funnily enough the year Pete and I got married - I wasn't trying to run away from him, honest!) I tried and failed to get in through the ballot every year since then, and finally I got the chance with a charity place in 2026. My friends, family, colleagues, associates, friends of friends and complete strangers have raised, to date, over £3,100 against a target of £2,200. Thank you all, so, so much.
Here's a couple of photos from the day. I'm particularly chuffed with my selfie with Daddy Pig and Joe Wicks somewhere at Canary Wharf!
